Hi! I'm the owner of Deborah's Cottage Rentals. Before Deborah's Cottage Rentals, my career revolved around education. My original field of study was Special Education. After we moved to the Smoky Mountains I became an online facilitator and developer through the University of North Carolina. When I was ready to do my own thing, I decided to enjoy the Appalachian culture and teach private music lessons. Finally, I knew it was time to go big with Deborah's Cottage Rentals and end my season as an educator.
Now, I manage the cottage rentals, full time. Although, my husband, Curt, is super busy with his work at Biltmore Estate, he is a tremendous help in making certain our own little "estate" is in great condition for our guests.
Was there ever a time we didn't have each other? We can't remember. We were both raised in a little village of 400 people, Herrick, Illinois. At the ages of seventeen and nineteen we set off as newlyweds, knowing very little about the world outside the Midwest.
Two children and twenty years later, we decided to take on a great new adventure and move to the beautiful Smoky Mountains. Originally, not knowing where to land, we found ourselves standing on Main Street of Waynesville. Once again, we found ourselves smitten. This time it was with the mountain range and culture of Western North Carolina.
Fortunately, we have never let these new loves come between us. ;-)
Here, Curt and our daughter are having fun with the granddaughters in the Buffalo Robe Guest Challenge. To add a little comfort and fun, we challenge our guests to share photos of themselves in the plaid robes. Although, not all do, this challenge has proved to bring on much laughter and joy to our guests and those they share with on social media.
