Hello!
My name is Deborah. My husband, Curt, and I are the owners and managers of Deborah's Cottage Rentals.
Curtis and I were childhood sweethearts who grew up in the Midwest. One year we sponsored our high school children's mission trip to the Appalachian Mountains. Once again, we were smitten. As soon as she graduated from high school we sold the family owned Christmas Tree Farm, quit our corporate jobs, and moved to Western North Carolina.
This is where the story begins.
As an educator and a musician, moving to North Carolina provided me many new opportunities. I developed and facilitated courses for the University of North Carolina. Next, I opened a private music studio and taught students of all ages how to play and perform multiple instruments. Now, I am what my children call, the “Momager.” I handle all aspects of the cottage/cabin rentals and manage the family.
Curt, coming from Illinois’s Natural Wildlife Department, earned his way to Director of Ground Operations at Biltmore Estate. He oversees many areas you enjoy during your visit. These include departments such as the field to table program, farm animals, crops, roads, estate landscape, and forestry.
When are not work focused we like to travel. I tend to migrate to the warmer climates while Curt dreams of Alaska.
Our world seems to revolve around our adult children and granddaughters. Shortly after we moved to North Carolina our family adopted two little girls. Just one more huge reason to know moving to the mountains was meant to be. Like all grandchildren, they have turned our world upside down.
